Age Concern Guernsey is a Guernsey charity, founded in 1993 to provide support and social events for elderly people. The charity organises four social centres in Guernsey, each managed by volunteers. Each centre meets on one afternoon a week. Members come to play games such as dominoes, cards, or scrabble, and to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and chat over biscuits or a slice of cake. A bingo session is also held and occasionally a raffle.
There is a nominal annual membership of £5 per person, plus a 50p contribution by all members attending the afternoon centres. Minibus transport to the centres is also available to members at a cost of 50p. As well as the four weekly centres, we have a programme of events during the year including Easter, Harvest and Carol Services, lunches and afternoon teas.
The charity operates a fleet of four minibuses in Guernsey, driven by volunteer drivers, which are available to take members to and from the centres, and other events if required (available seats permitting). All Guernsey residents over the age of 65 are very welcome to become members. Please contact us on 01481-263228 or on hello@ageconcernguernsey.org.gg. We regret that we cannot always guarantee attendance at a particular centre as this depends on the availability of places.
